Great prints...
I know, it's almost time for the next pick of the week, but I thought I'd put together a collage of some of my favorite summer prints. Top left is from a long skirt, top right is from an H&M dress, bottom left is one of my prized pieces--a silk Trina Turk skirt--and bottom right is from another skirt.

I've been meaning to feature this necklace for a while. I actually found it last summer at a garage sale fundraiser at work. I couldn't believe that no one had snatched it up yet, along with a bunch of other fabulous pieces, including an owl pendant and enamel locket.
The yellow enamel flowers have tiny rhinestones in the middle and they are linked together in clusters. A one-of-a-kind piece!

Here are the world's greatest sandals, as featured in the chilly summer garden wedding piece. Why are they so great?
a. The Sofft brand is the Tempur-Pedic of shoes--cushy but supportive (and probably better for your back, too).
b. They are a delightful orange.
c. They are slightly fancy but also casual because they are flat.
d. They were pretty much BRAND NEW for only $8 at Bargain World thrift store!!!

Last month I found another embroidered jacket that matches my first one! It's also from Bargain World, so someone must have had a collection of these. I would love to know the story.

The gods of reuse have rewarded my foray into footware. A trip to the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane left me with more pairs than I thought I could carry home. Recognizing that I'd lost control as I began to weigh the cost of shipping against that of new shoes, I forced myself to leave several pairs behind. My next stop at Value Village produced even more amazing shoes, and I found myself lugging thin, pink, heel-punctured, plastic bags back to my hotel room, hoping to avoid being spotted by any of the people there for the same conference we were.
The Haul.
Amongst the eight (Yes, eight! It's been too long.) pairs, my favorite are these vintage beaded pumps from Imperial.
Sequins, flowers and beads--and eight pairs of shoes. What more could a girl ask for?

A year of wearing nothing new can be hard on the feet when you're squeemish about buying used shoes. After over eight months without adding any new shoes to my wardrobe I've finally crossed over. The first new (to me) pair to grace my feet since last summer: Bright yellow flats by Leleco found at the 38th Street Goodwill--just in time for Spring.

A close-up of the Moiselle jacket I showcased as part of my return from the brink of retail a few posts ago. Another score from the Bellevue Goodwill trip. (There are another 3 jackets from the same trip yet to share--I do love coats! See the Asian -inspired pick from a few weeks back.)
